Monthly Wrap Up: October

Wow, I can't believe it's November already! Christmas is fast approaching, and soon 2013 will be here. October was a very busy month for me. My mom was in the hospital for 11 days, but she's recovering at home and doing well. I took some time off from work to spend time with her and help her transition at home. I did get a lot of reading done, not as much as I expected but considering the circumstances I think I did really well.  I read 8 books and I have completed my goal of reading 80 books in 2012. I'm hoping to read 100 books by the end of the year, but not stressing about it.

My favorite for the month would be Forgotten by Catherine McKenzie. She's a Montreal author, and I've loved all three of her books. Once I picked up Forgotten, I ignored my husband for most of the evening. I couldn't wait to finish but felt really sad when it was over because I enjoyed it so much.

A Month in Review: August

Looking back, August wasn't a really good reading month. I only read 7 books. The few weeks before my vacation, I just couldn't wrap my head around reading, nothing was holding my attention. A few of these books were amazing, and I'm really happy I read them.

My two favorite books for the month would be Gone Girl and Love Anthony.

Gone Girl (Review) was such a great thriller. I don't normally read these types of books but I couldn't ignore the buzz.

Love Anthony (Review) was an emotional rollercoaster. I loved every single page.

My biggest disappointment would be The Rules of Civility. My review will be coming up next week, for this one .

I'm currently reading The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly and I'm fascinated by the story line. I kept putting it off because it's a chunkster, but now I regret it. It's amazing!

A Month in Review: June

June really flew by for me. We finally moved, and finished all of our renovations. We're settling in at our new place, and I'm really happy. It's really nice to have more space. I can't wait for vacation, but that's in August...

June was a little slow on the reading side. I read 6 books. I'm hoping July is much better. Even though I only read 6 books, I read some really great books! I loved Everybody has Everything, Arranged and The Queen's Vow. It's really hard to choose a favourite, but I'll choose The Chaperone! It exceeded all of my expectations.

I'm slowing started to try Young Adult Fiction again. I'm trying to find more contemporary Young Adult reads, and staying away from paranormal and dystopian reads. I really enjoyed Belles.

Happy 4th of July!

A Month in Review

April was a great reading month for me, and I really enjoyed the books I read. I've been taking a break from YA and I think I'm ready to jump back in and enjoy a few. I'm currently reading Insurgen by Veronica Roth. I was on a ebook ban for about an hour, and then I noticed Harper Collins is having a great ebook sale! I love ebook sales, because I don't feel bad about buying ebooks of books I already own. If I have the ebook, I can lend out my hard copy or pass it along. I hope everyone had a great April. I'm ready for the sun and skirts. It's still cold in Montreal, but I have hope that it will warm up soon.

The Ruins of Us

It's so hard to choose a favorite, but Parssinen had the ability to make me like a character that I never would have thought possible.

My goal was to maintain my reading speed and read 80 books this year. I'm already on my 44th book! I know the next few weeks will be busy for me, so it might slow down but I'm very happy.
